New article in Post-Soviet Affairs
An article «Composition of the ruling elite, incentives for productive usage of rents, and prospects for Russia’s limited access order» by Andrei Yakovlev was published on the Post-Soviet Affairs website.
This essay applies the “limited access orders” framework of North, Wallis, and Weingast to the case of Russia to demonstrate that the evolution of such social orders depends on to what extent the ruling elite can negotiate a productive use of the rents they receive.
