Project "Russian Enterprises in Value Chains" 2022
Based on a survey of business executives, the fifth round of monitoring the competitiveness of manufacturing businesses was planned and carried out in 2022. The fifth round was primarily concerned with examining the changes that have occurred since 2018, including the discovery of new patterns in the growth and conduct of industrial enterprises in the context of maintaining and strengthening the sanctions regime, as well as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic's force majeure circumstances.
Businesses in the manufacturing sector of the Russian economy, as well as other sectors, were forced to reconfigure their supply chains and logistical systems during the COVID-19 pandemic. For the Russian business, particularly in the area of international industrial cooperation, the geopolitical crisis in 2022 presented new problems. In order to determine the scope and direction of changes in the cooperative chains that Russian firms participate in on a national and international level, the survey data will need to be combined with the findings of earlier rounds of the study.
The survey's findings will also allow for the evaluation of the effectiveness of the government's initiatives to promote industrial production, the identification of the institutional changes that different types and groups of businesses need, and the formulation of recommendations for improving economic and industrial policy.
