Sampling strategy

The survey sample was constructed with the use of RUSLANA data base, purchased by HSE. To ensure the statistical representativeness of the collected data, the targeted sample size accounts for 2,000 plants, including 800 small plants with 10-100 workers and 1200 plants with more than 100 workers. Two dimensions have been used for stratification of the sample: 11 NACE industry codes and size class (10-19; 20-49; 50-250; more than 250 employees). Given the importance of large firms in aggregate competitiveness dynamics, the large firms have been oversampled.
