Andrei Yakovlev as a guest researcher in Bremen
From August 13 to 25, 2018, IIMS Director Andrei Yakovlev is visiting the University of Bremen on invitation of the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics, working group of Jutta Günther. His visit takes place within the DAAD Eastern Partnership program and serves to continue and intensify joint academic research, exchange and development of future fields of cooperation.
On August 15, Andrei Yakovlev gave a guest lecture entitled “Do personal connections with administrative officials support successful business in Russia? – Empirical insights from survey experiments”. This lecture was jointly organised with the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen (Heiko Pleines).
The working group of Jutta Günther focuses on studies of transition process in Central and East European countries and Eastern Germany compared to Asia countries and the Arab world, that are going through transition like reform processes. In this research area they pay particularly attention to the transition led changes of innovation systems, on the lessons that can be learned from former socialist countries for other parts of the world and the perspectives for sustainable development. Moreover, they study Globalisation and Economic Development, Structural, innovation and climate policy.
The cooperation between Higher School of Economics Moscow und the University of Bremen is manifold. There is a frequently used student exchange program between the economics, social sciences and humanity faculties as well as researcher mobility. The working group of Jutta Günther has been cooperating with the Institute for Industrial and Market Studies at HSE for several years. Last year IIMS research fellow Ksenia Gonchar also visited Faculty of Business Studies and Economics giving lectures and conducting research in cooperation with Jutta Günther’s team.
