The director if IIMS Andrei Yakovlev took part in the Russia-UK Dialogue
Andrei Yakovlev participated in the international conference “Wilton Park Dialogue with Russia: a new prosperity-aspiration, innovation, participation” which was held on the 20-23rd of March, 2011 at Wiston House, 50 miles south of London.
The key objective of the Dialogue was to discuss the Russian modernization agenda and its parallels with the UK and international debates on economic and social modernization. Among the participants there were representatives of academia, business and governmental agencies of different countries. The specific topics covered during the round tables included the rule of law, innovation, science and technology, education, new media and energy.
Andrei Yakovlev along with Vladimir Mau and Alena Ledeneva (UCL) presented his evaluation of modernization policies and their successes, existing obstacles and future initiatives. He also took part in the discussion on education and developing human resources.
Wilton Park is an independent agency of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the British government. This event has launched a series of Wilton Park Russia Dialogues, to take part in Britain and Russia. Discussions at Wilton Park events are “off the record”, so that the dialogue could be as frank and interactive as possible.
