8th Annual ICSID Conference 2019 “The Political Economy of Redistribution and Institutional Change”, June 13-15, 2019

8th Annual Conference of the International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development (ICSID) “The Political Economy of Redistribution and Institutional Change” will be held at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow on June 13-15, 2019. The conference will include the EACES-HSE Workshop “Topics in Political Economy of Development” on June 13.

This year we will continue discussing a variety of issues in the field of political economy that we focused on during the seven previous ICSID conferences.

Some of the conference topics are:

- Collective actions and public goods
- Comparative studies of governance
- Social capital, trust, and cultural norms
- Human capital and economic development
- Political elites and economic performance
- History and persistence of economic growth

The conference will bring together both Russian and foreign researchers working on these topics, including Marko Klasnja from Georgetown University and Volha Charnysh from MIT as invited speakers.

ICSID senior research associates will take part in the workshop and the conference: Timothy Frye (Columbia University, HSE), Andrei Yakovlev (HSE), Thomas Remington (Emory University, HSE), John Reuter (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, HSE), David Szakonyi (George Washington University, HSE), Ekaterina Borisova (HSE), Noah Buckley (NYU-Abu Dhabi, HSE), Michael Rochlitz (University of Bremen), Sarah Sokhey (University of Colorado, Boulder),  Alexander Libman (Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich).

The conference and workshop working language is English.

The event will take place in the HSE building in 20 Myasnitskaya St., rooms 311, 240, 242.
