From (quasi) experimental design to pre-registration: a path to research transparency
The methodological seminar on the topic: "From (quasi) experimental design to pre-registration: the path to research transparency» was organized at ICSID and IIMS on the 15th of October. The event was held within the framework of the HSE Academic Personnel Reserve program.
Experimental researches are becoming more and more popular in the social sciences. At the seminar, Valeria Koncha, a junior researcher at ICSID, told what experiments are, how quasi-experimental designs can serve as powerful methods for identifying causal relationships in social sciences and when classical experiments are impossible.
The seminar participants discussed in detail the basic principles of quasi-experimental methods and innovative examples from modern research that demonstrate their practical applicability.
In addition, the speaker offered a step-by-step guide for pre-registration of experiments on the OSF platform. This is a key process that contributes to increased transparency and replication in the scientific community, it is very important for strengthening confidence in research.
