Workshop on Experiments in Political Economy

The workshop on the methodology of field experiments was held in New York on May 18-20, 2011. The seminar was organized by the Columbia Center for the Study of Development Strategies and the Harriman Institute of Columbia University in the framework of a joint project of the Higher School of Economics and the Harriman Institute for the establishment of the International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development at the HSE.

The three-day workshop was devoted to the application of field experiments in social sciences, primarily in political and economic researches. The goal was to provide full immersion training on causal inference, and the design, implementation, and analysis of experiments. The eventful program of the seminar included the presentation of about 20 experts on various aspects of the methodology application, as well as the presentation of the participants of the seminar  their own projects based on the field experiments .

ICSID team members and researchers from various departments of the Higher School of Economics who are interested in applying this methodology in their own research took part in the seminar.
