Andrei Yakovlev, Head of the Institute for Industrial and Market Studies, became a member of the Academic Advisory Board working on the Discuss Data project
The project is initiated as collaboration between the Research Centre for East European Studies of the University of Bremen (FSO), Göttingen State and University Library (SUB) and supported with the grant from the German Research Council (DFG).
The project aims to establish an English-language virtual research environment (VRE) as a place of communication, annotation and discussion of research data on the example of the area studies of the post-Soviet region. The VRE is designed as a layer between distributed repositories and academic users.
Their methodological pluralism and interdisciplinary orientation allow in a specific manner the involvement all data forms and formats established in the humanities and social sciences with the focus on text documents, statistical data, surveys, audio, video, and image materials. These advantages as well as the documentation on the project findings and publication of the modularly developed software components as open source promote a subsequent transfer to other contexts.
The initial phase of the Discuss Data project starts on January 1, 2017 and lasts till 2019 inclusively.
