Workshop at the University of Oxford

ICSID researchers took part in an international workshop «Political elites and political rents under electoral authoritarianism: evidence from Russia and beyond» that was held at the University of Oxford, the United Kingdom, on April 3, 2017.

The workshop, which discussed new directions in the study of electoral authoritarianism, brought together researchers based in the United States, Europe and Russia.

During the seminar ICSID research fellows David Szakonyi and Noah Buckley as well as ICSID associate fellow Michael Rochlitz presented their papers:

David Szakonyi "Pricelings and Political Rents"

Noah Buckley "Calculating Corruption: Political Competition and Bribery under Authoritarianism"

Michael Rochlitz "Independent Media and Non-Competitive Elections: Experimental Evidence from Russia"

The event was supported by the Department of Politics and International Relations, and the Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States of America, Belgium and Luxembourg.
