Korhan Gokmengolu's seminar on shadow banking
On July 11, ICID visiting researcher Korhan Gokmenoglu, associate professor at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University (Turkey), spoke at the Higher School of Economics.
Under the heading of "The role of shadow banking towards a sustainable growth path," Korhan discussed the nature of shadow banking — as well as its significance for the pursuit of sustainable economic growth, development opportunities, and regional variations in experience.
Because of the topic's complexity, there was a lot of interest in it, and Korhan received questions ranging from the data he utilized to the nearly philosophical question of whether shadow banking is good or evil.
All things considered, Korhan's talk clarified the intricacies of shadow banking and its effects on international financial systems. His observations sparked more debate about possible fixes to mitigate risks of shadow banking.
