A Research on Russian embargo in IOS Regensburg

Denis Ivanov, research fellow of the ICSID, obtained a position of visiting researcher at the IOS Regensburg (Das Leibniz-Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropaforschung)  and told us about his forthcoming visit there

A Research on Russian embargo in IOS Regensburg

- How did you know about this position and how candidates were selected?
- I saw an advertisement of the IOS Regensburg Visiting Researcherts Program on a Facebook page of Olga Popova, my colleague I have got to know on an academic conference. I responded to the invitation, sent my application, and the IOS Regensburg got interested in my research proposal and offered me a position.

- What is the theme of your research? How long will you stay in Regensburg?
- I will spend 3 weeks in Regensburg. I am doing a reseach on the Russian embargo against Moldovan wine and how this embargo affected political behavior, voting, ethnic and linguisitc identity in Moldova. Nowadays various counties actively impose santions but we do not have enough empirical evidence that allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of these santions. My research could contribute to this debate.

- What made you interested in IOS Regensburg in the first place?
I am interested in opportunity to work with international team of top-notch researchers who are specialists both on modern theories and methods of economics and Eastern Europe. I think it would help me to improve my research.
