Despite all the turbulence and uncertainty created by Covid-19 crisis, HSE-EACES workshop on Public Procurement in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia was successfully held on April 9 (as originally planned) online via Zoom.
Coming back from Italy: an interview with Yuliya Rodionova
Yuliya Rodionova, junior research fellow in the Institute for Industrial and Market Studies spent two month in a Department of Economics and Management of University of Padova. There she continued her research activities related to the analysis of public procurement system with Paola Valbonesi as her academic adviser, one of the leading researchers in this field. Yuliya gave us feedback on her internship, told us about her future plans and the way she spent her academic life in Italy.
International partnership with Trinity College Dublin
Noah Buckley-Farlee, research fellow at ICSID, has been working as an assistant professor at Trinity College Dublin since August 1. We interviewed him about his impressions and further plans.
EACES Workshop on State Capitalism
A workshop: “The Rise of State Capitalism: consequences for economic and political development” organized by ICSID and the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies (EACES) was held at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow on April 10-11, 2019.
New paper
The article "Transaction Costs in the Public Procurement in Russia: Macrolevel Assessment Based on Microdata" prepared by IIMS team members - Andrei Yakovlev, Andrey Tkachenko and Yulia Rodionova was published in the third issue of the Journal of Institutional Studies for 2018. Besides, among the authors Professor of the School of Business Administration (HSE) – Olga Balaeva.
Visiting researchers: who they are?
IIMS and ICSID have been actively implementing the Visiting Researchers Program for a long time. Every year, at least ten researchers from around the world come to Moscow. Most recently, Ashley Blum, a PhD student at the University of California in Los Angeles, visited ICSID and spent almost a month and a half in Moscow. We talked to Ashley and found out what she was studying and whether she enjoyed life in the big city.
Research Seminar on Diversity and Development
Anand Sokhey became the 1st speaker starting new academic year to present his research at the ICSID-CSDSI regular seminar on Diversity and Development. The seminar was held jointly with the seminar “Political Economy” and Economic Development and Growth Research Group on September 11, 2018.
Participation in the 15th European Association for Comparative Economic Studies Conference
IIMS research fellows presented their papers at the 15th Biannual Conference of EACES, which was held in Warsaw on September, 6-8, 2018.
YOUNG SCHOLARS CONFERENCE 2018
Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia (CREECA) organized a two-day conference for young researchers YOUNG SCHOLARS CONFERENCE 2018, dedicated to the study of Russia, at the end of July. The conference was held for the first time and turned out to be very diverse in topics. Ekaterina Borisova, ICSID Deputy Director, was among its participants. She presented her project «Generalized Trust, Preferences for Redistribution and Institutions», co-authored by Denis Ivanov and Koen Sсhoors.
Participation in the 10 th Joint IOS/APB/EACES Summer Academy
The Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) together with EACES and the Academy for Civic Education (APB) organized their 10th Joint Summer Academy on Central and Eastern Europe. The event titled "Firm Behavior in Central and Eastern Europe: Productivity, Innovation and Trade” took place in a German town of Tutzing on June 11-13, 2018. ICSID research fellow Irina Levina presented her research project on decentralization of firms "Does firms' decentralization pay off in weak institutions setup? Decentralization and investment of Russian firms" during one of the panels.
